Welcome Back to Provo

Image
Hello from Provo! I've survived my first two days of in person training. My last few days of home MTC consisted of a beach walk, spending time with family, eating all my favorite foods and soaking in as much sun as I could get.  On Wednesday I woke up way too early, and said goodbye to my parents and landed inmy home for the next 18 months. The MTC is so amazing! My district is so cool and we all compliment each other so well. My companion, Sister Adams, and I are literally the same person. It is so crazy, every day we realize how much we have in common and it is so fun! The hardest part about being in the MTC and having pday on Fridays is not being able to talk to my missionary friends in real time, but I have to get used to it because most of my mission will be like that. Being in the MTC feels like a different world. It's crazy to think I lived a mile down the road for the past couple of months because it feels like a completely different town in here. I can also see where m...

She is off to the Provo MTC

Sister Jones has finished her one week at home MTC experience.  Today Meredith flew from John Wayne airport to Salt Lake City in preparation to entering the Provo MTC for the next three weeks. Two week of missionary training and one week of Temple Square training. It was an early morning and if you know Meredith she is not a morning person. But she was all smiles today! She has prepared herself for this moment and is ready to dedicate the next year and a half to serving the Lord! We have loved watching her grow in so many ways these past couple of months as she has been preparing for her mission. Last night she said good bye to Hattie and that was hard. Tears were shed on her behalf. When Mackenzie would tell her that Aunt Mae Mae would be gone for the next year and a half Hattie kept saying "missionary". It was so cute! Meredith is going to miss Hattie and Beckham more that anyone else!  Ryan struggled again with his emotions as we dropped Meredith at the airport. He really ...

Farewell Talk

Meredith's   farewell talk- joy of sharing the gospel and serving others Hi my name is Sister Jones and I have been called to serve in the Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission. This is kinda funny because for the last semester I have been taking classes at BYUs Salt Lake Center and although I can see the temple through the window in some of my classes, the salt lake center is not within my mission boundaries. Temple Square is easily the most unique mission. So here are some fun facts; I get an extra week of training at the missionary training center in Provo, it is a Sisters only mission, about 4 million people visit temple square each year, it is the smallest mission geographically (about 1 square mile), I will be living right by the conference center, we have 1 hour church every Sunday at 7:30am before all the visitors get there, i will be the fourth sister jones in the mission at once, my preparation day switches every transfer and i get to go to the temple once every 6 w...

Farewell

Image
Meredith gave her farewell talk in the Avendale Ward at 10:30 a.m. today. She shared facts about her mission, why she decided to serve and about faith. Trey sang "O Lord My Redeemer" which was beautiful and brought a beautiful spirit to the meeting.  After Sacrament we gathered at the house where we ate sandwiches, soup, matterhorn bars and brownies. It was a great day!
