If you're at conference on saturday I may or may not be in the balcony auditorium sections 3-9 for all three sessions. Sadly I don't get to attend on Sunday but I'll be around square. This week we gave an amazing tour to a woman from croatia. We all eneded the tour in tears because the spirit was so strong. It was my first tour since being back so I was nervous but it went so well, the Holy Ghost really carried. This isnt the important part but we got her contact info to hopefully continue to teach her online!  We got to go to mutual dell as a zone this week! Its a campsite that the church owns so we go on a hike, roast hotdogs after and hang out. I'm definitely not used to the elevation yet but still made it up the steep hike and back down. Honestly so fun to be in nature and hike 7 miles even with a fat blister on the back of my foot haha.  Sister Mendez speaks Spanish so we have done so many Spanish tours this week. I don't even try to respond in Spanish because ...

Arrival Letter from President Braun

Image
Dear Parent(s) Your daughter, Sister   Meredith Claire Jones ,  arrived on Temple Square in good health and fine spirits. Sister Braun and I enjoyed extending to her a personal welcome. As a missionary, your daughter will teach many people of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the basic beliefs of the Church as many thousands of guests visit Temple Square each year. Each sister also teaches and interacts with hundreds of people throughout the World in our Online Teaching Center. Temple Square provides shared housing for each missionary. Apartments are located in desirable neighborhoods. They are well maintained and within walking distance of Temple Square, and each is equipped with a washer and dryer. Competent medical staff is readily available should your daughter require these services. Missionaries can call or video-chat with parents weekly on P-day. Please strengthen and encourage your missionary in these visits. Emails, letters and occasional packages from...

Airport Farewell

Image
Today we dropped Meredith off at John Wayne Airport to send her back to her mission. We got stuck in a long line at baggage check (behind a college track and field team inwhich 90% of them were from other countries). Once she finally got her bags checked we rushed over to security inwhich that line was also long. Meredith was struggling with thoughts of “maybe these are signs that I shouldn’t go back out”. It was a hard morning. While in security Delta started paging her over the intercom because they were ready to close the doors for take off. So TSA pushed her to the front and she ran to make her flight! Another missionary from Ladera, Jed Butler, was also on her flight.

Setting Apart

President Conover and Bishop Searle came over Tuesday night to set apart Meredith as an official missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Farewell Talk Take Two

Good morning my name is Meredith Jones but starting Wednesday I will be going as Sister Jones and serving in the Salt Lake City temple square mission.  Temple square is easily one of the most unique missions so here are some fun facts: I had an extra week of historic site training in the mtc, it’s a sisters only mission, about 4 million people visit temple square each year, it’s the smallest mission geographically at 1 square mile, I’ll be living across the street from the conference center, we have 1 hour church every Sunday at 7:45 am, I will be the fourth Sister Jones in the mission at once, my P day switches every transfer, roughly 90 out of 150 sisters serving there are not from the US representing 39 Countries and 37 languages.  I don’t know if many of you know this but I actually left on my mission in January only to return home two months later.  Coming home from my mission was not an easy decision. I can genuinely say I’ve never been happier than I was on my miss...
