So Much Snow

Image
Happy Monday, it snowed so much here this past week. I'm actually so grateful for the snow because it brings people to Utah and a lot of them stop by temple Square. And temple Square covered in snow is a different type of pretty (pictures below) We met the coolest guy this week who is coming back to church. He bought his own scriptures with his name engraven on them (which is pretty significant for a broke college kid) and is so excited to someday be able to enter the temple and feel the peace that everybody talks about. It was cool to see how excited he was to be on the straight and narrow path again. I was reminded of how exciting it is to live a worthy lifestyle to be able to enter the temple and teach people so they can enter as well.  Also this sweet elderly couple that just got done serving their mission in Wasatch Valley taught us how to say "I love you" in Swahili (nakupenda) they were super cute and both started crying while talking about the gospel.  Everybody...

I Saw the 12 Apostles- not clickbait

This might be a little long but you're going to want to read this!! I officially made it to Salt lake!! First thing, I no longer have Facebook on my phone so everybody better send me life updates every once in awhile. And if you're a missionary or missionary mom add me to their email list to stay in touch! ( Meredith.jones@missionary.org ) I can also no longer use Facebook messenger so I promise I'm not ignoring you I just can only email for the next 17 months.  That's right 17 months... I've officially been a missionary for a month ahhh. It's been the most rewarding month ever. Never in my life did I think I could wake up at 6:30 or study for hours every day without complaints but here I am, it's a miracle fr.  Ok for the part you have been waiting for. On Thursday we had our first transfer meeting and as we were walking through the underground tunnels to get to lunch we saw the 12 apostles walking into the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for their weekly ...

Safe Arrival at Temple Square

Image
02/16/2023     Dear Parent(s) Your daughter, Sister  Meredith Claire Jones ,  arrived on Temple Square in good health and fine spirits. Sister Larsen and I enjoyed extending to her a personal welcome. As a missionary, your daughter will teach many people of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the basic beliefs of the Church as many thousands of guests visit Temple Square each year. Each sister also teaches and interacts with hundreds of people throughout the World in our Online Teaching Center. Temple Square provides shared housing for each missionary. Apartments are located in desirable neighborhoods. They are well maintained and within walking distance of Temple Square, and each is equipped with a washer and dryer. Competent medical staff is readily available should your daughter require these services. Missionaries can call or video-chat with parents weekly on P-day. Please strengthen and encourage your missionary in these visits. Emails, lett...

MTC Temple Square Training has Begun

Image
This week was my first week of temple Square training at the mtc. That means I only have 1 more week of mtc food. I had to slowly see all the members in my district leave and it was so sad. That district was the best and they will all be so missed. Meal times just aren't the same without elder Allison singing random songs (that sound nothing like the actual song) or asking what transformer we'd be. But I'm now in a sisters only district and I definitely don't miss the conversations about the boys fighting demons in the bathroom because of the food... We now have morning classes which is so nice because we are in bed by 9:30 and fall asleep at 10 where as before we had class until 9. Our schedule is wake up 6:30, breakfast 7:15, class 8:30-11:30, lunch 12-12:30, personal study 12:30-1:30, class 1:30-4:30, dinner 5 and then we usually workout at 6:40 or there's a devotional. We stayed in the same room so it's now just sister adams and I in here. that means we st...
